Ahhh, summer 1972. Here I am playing in the sand with my pail in Atlantic City, NJ. Notice how I squat vs. sit in the sand? I have never liked sand on me. I loved to play in it and attempt to build sand castles, but I would never sit down in it...even when I played in our neighborhood sandbox. My mom always said she never had to change my clothes; I was the cleanest kid on the playground!
This beach LO continues this week's theme at Cuttlebug Challenge blog: Under the Sea using Digital Designs created especially for Cuttlebug Challenge blog by Wendy (thanks, Wendy!) I used the adorable fish on my card (previous post), but for my LO I chose the star fish and the crab* as photo corners/adornaments. I also used the same copic markers, Bazzill card stock, and BasicGrey Color Me Silly collection. My embossing folder is Cuttlebug Bloom Dots. Isn't it perfect with these BG papers? "SUN" is Paige font by QuicKutz and the journal block is Spellbinders Labels 4.
Techniques:
1. Faux 12" border: "A day in the..." is computer-generated in landscape format (11" long). I cut the strip at ~3" and glued my sun to hide the 1" gap in the strip.
2. Embossing a 12" strip: Emboss the first 5" on one end. Carefully place the middle of the strip in the embossing folder so that the pattern is maintained as closely as possible. *Sandwich the folder between the two embossing plates, but allow part of the folder to hang out of the sandwich so as not to disrupt the embossed pattern. Repeat from * for the end of the strip.
*Yes, I do know that crabs are blue. I was raised in Maryland and love Maryland crabs and Old Bay seasoning. Crabs are only red once they are dead. Please allow for creative license here; I felt that a blue crab would not stand out as much on my LO. Besides, this was on a NJ beach. I have never seen a NJ crab; maybe their crabs are red :)

Cute, charming, and adorable! I love crabs no matter what color they are!
aha! yes! you are quite right! our NJ crabs are a sort of orangey-rusty brown color... (kind of like lobsters are) and then they turn a proper red when they are cooked! (but if i was going to illustrate ANY type of crab it would be bright red...i've never seen an illustrated crab--or lobster who was not! (but yeah when you really think about it, that's an odd convention b/c it implies they've been COOKED!) :) :) :)
