This was my first try with spirelli. My DT sister, Rosemary, has a great tutorial here. This was a completely new technique for me. It reminds me of my Spirograph I had as a kid :)I went searching through my stash for something fun and fine to wind, and I came across this variegated fiber. I chose an image from my Accent Essentials cricut cartridge and cut it twice. I glued the two cut images together for support so that the card stock would not warp as I wrapped.
I accented the center with navy linen card stock with a daisy punched in the center. I layered over a brown paper lunch bag that I spritzed and crinkled several times. After the lunch bag dried, I painted the lunch bag with Lumiere paint. I layered on a circle of mirror paper.

This is very nice! I have to try this technique.
We did string art as kids but it involved a wood substrate and nails and my dad helping us ;) This looks much easier and I love the added texture it brings and would love to try it in my art journals.
Okay, well, this thing is wonderful and too cool for school and I'll be trying it very, very soon!! Seriously love this. I did so much string art as a kid, I had an aunt who was old-school in teaching 4th grade so most of the time she was kinda mean, but she was a huge arts/crafts teacher (that ability hasn't really translated to scrapbooking, but that's ok) and boy did she ever know how to teach the fun stuff, and string art was one of them. I think I even still have some ornaments in my stash from when I was young!! Wow, that was Chatty Cathie, wasn't it??!! =)
