Back to Basics & Teachers are Special

It is nearing the end of the year and I have quite a few special teachers to thank.  My dd, Kathryn, has a male teacher this year, so I wanted to make my card for this year a little more masculine.  I used some "old school" items from my stash:  metal brads, a paper clip, and cork; all three of these items have been in my craft room stash for at least 10 years.  I cut the cork with the SU top note die (twice!  I cut once, then rotated, then rounded the corners with my scissors for a softer look).  Remember when brads were all this size?  It was about that time that I first saw "mini brads" and those are the only brads I ever seem to use now.  I used scraps from the cards I made last year for my bulletin board notes.  All papers and ribbon are by Cosmo Cricket "The Boyfriend" collection.  My base card is SU and the sentiments are by Lawn Fawn.

I am entering my card in the following challenges:
Cards for Men:  #10  Someone Special
Paper Cutz Challenge:  #92  Teacher Appreciation
Whimsical Wednesday:  #7  Back to Basics (Cricutless & old school item)

Happy Friday!

Great card!! I've been going through things in my craft room too and it's just amazing how long you tend to keep stuff.

What a great card I love the cork. What a great idea for a male card. AND Thank was so sweet of you to say thank you. Those always meant so much to me. Not many parents take the time to let the teacher know they appreciate what they do.

I wish more parents were like you and showed their appreciation for thier kids teachers ;) Cortney had an open house Thursday night and only one parent showed up. Really hard to believe seeing as how she has 10 severely needy kids in her class. Oh well...whatcha gonna do ;) She is looking forward to summer...how about you...what are you plans with the girls? We are vacationing in June in Savannah, Daytona and Charleston...can hardly wait! Have a great weekend.

What a fabulous design! I love it June! Your idea of using cork as a bulleting board is genius! I might have to use that one. I have 11 year old twins whose school is also my place of work. I have lots of things to make too. I have to get started!! Hope you are having a wonderful day. Thanks for the inspiration.

June, I love this card. I am just realizing it inspired the cards I made last nite for my kiddo's end of the year cards for their teachers. I will get it posted soon and I will link back to your post, too. Mine was with chalkboard paper. I really like the cork you used!
