BasicGrey Nook & Pantry Birthday Cards - Buzz & Brag Friday

Happy Friday! Two of my favorite people were born in November (hi, Cathy & Reagan!) Last year my sweet friend, Tracy, bought me the BasicGrey Nook & Pantry 6x6 papers and coordinating acrylic stamp set. She also included a card idea. My card is a CASE of that card idea.
I made the second card from the scraps from this card and previous cards I have made from this 6x6 pad (I love to use up scraps!)

Cricut Vinyl projects - Wednesday Showcase

I made this wood plaque following this tutorial at Betty Bee's Buzz. This will be a gift for my sweet sweet sister and b-i-l. I finished early this morning and when my dh saw it he asked if I would make one for us! Yep, he's a keeper :)

The BeSt Wax Museum (Susan B. Anthony & Betsy Ross together at last!)

Here are Susan B. Anthony & Betsy Ross; together at last! At Belmont Station elementary (BeSt), one of the programs for the 3rd graders is a wax museum. The students wear a button (Kathryn has hers on in the pic) that says, "Push to talk."
The students have researched their famous American for the past month and create a poster. The 3rd graders are seated in the hall beneath their poster. When someone pushes their button, the child stands and recites one fact about their famous American (6 facts total.) This was so cute! My mom sewed their costumes. I have to admit these are two of the cutest girls at BeSt!!!

Look who's coming to dinner...

My mom is coming for dinner on Thursday, so I thought I would make this napkin ring for her. The napkin ring is Roe's idea, actually. I followed her easy tutorial and made this in less than 30 minutes! Roe is hostessing this week's Monday Motivation. Click on over to the hive (Betty Bee's Buzz) for lots of samples and inspiration! My step-mother passed away last week and I made this card for my step-brother, Douglas. Whenever I need to make a sympathy card, I use this iris stamp by PSX. I first stamped the background with a linen background stamp on kraft card stock. I colored the irises with my Prismacolor pencils and added some bling.

Merci! Masculine Card

Lots of "firsts"! I have a new Provo Craft Cricut Expression and I just had to play :) I cut out the Eiffel Tower and the "Merci" sentiment. This machine is amazing. It has a place of honor right now in the middle of my kitchen table for all to admire. I usually have anxiety when I need to learn how to do anything machine-related. (Learning to blog was a huge learning curve for me...lol). I took the machine out of the box, set it up following the easy-breezy directions, and cut out these two items with no trouble; all in less than an hour! This machine has infinite capabilities, and I am ready to learn. If I can do it, anyone can.

I had an idea in my head for a card with the Eiffel Tower and a "merci" flag flying from it with a script background. Yes, my mind goes to Provo Craft products first...I luv my embossing folders and dies! I did not have any other plan for a sketch or other embellishments. I started with the flag and then thought it might be fun to make a flag of France. I needed my Tweezer Bees to glue on the "Merci". I love that little tool! After I embossed the kraft card stock, I wanted the script to "pop", so I distressed it. Michael's has Martha Stewart border & corner punches on clearance (score!), so I tried my new border punch. I have had the black studs (yes, they are black IRL) in my stash for over a year, and I thought this is a perfect time to try them.

I know this sounds like an ad for Provo Craft, but I promise I have not been paid to do so!
