Happy Surprise Birthday Blog Hop, Jean!

I "met" my blog friend Jean seven years ago through my dear friend Tracy.  Tracy told me how much fun it is to read Jean's blog and also that Jean and I have a lot in common; so it was easy to become cyber friends with Jean.  We started trading blog comments, but more often now emails, phone calls, or Facebook messages.

Jennifer, another friend of Jean, asked some of Jean's friends to create a page for a birthday book that Jennifer would compile.  This blue poppy sheet is my page!  I used three Hero Arts stamps and I tried my Faber-Castell chalk pencils for the very first time.   (Thank you for enabling me, Katie Brooks!)

Little Tangles Sketch challenge

I just had to play with one of my newest Neat and Tangled stamp sets, "Sailmates."  I also combined it with my N&T "Sunburst" stamp.

SRM Stickers Apples/Harvest September Challenges

It's time for the September challenges at The SRM Challenge blog.  And guess who our guest designer is this month?  My sweet friend Amy Tsuruta!

Choose your inspiration; there is a color challenge, a photo inspiration challenge, a theme challenge, and a sketch challenge.  Choose any one, two, three, or all four challenges to enter to win some SRM goodies.  Just remember to use at least one SRM product on your project.

The inspiration challenge caught my eye.  School just started yesterday in my area and I made this for Julia's teacher.  A box full of dark chocolate raisins and dark chocolate Hershey Nuggets with almonds!  I used three different SRM stickers on my project and the acrylic box can also be found in the SRM store.  I can honestly say that I have never had a sturdier nor easier to assemble acrylic box than this one.  I have purchased from various companies in the past, but now I will only purchase my acrylic boxes from the SRM store.  Terrific quality!  Thank you, SRM Stickers.

International Day of Peace die cut challenge at Cut It Up

 It's time to Cut It Up and this time we have a color scheme challenge!  We are looking for cards, layouts, or projects using the colors of a country you have visited or would like to visit.

  This was an opportunity for me to scrapbook a couple of panoramic pictures.  I cut the strips of red, green, and navy to mimic the flags of both Italy and France.  I Cricut cut the leaning tower of Pisa (Destinations cartridge) and the Eiffel Tower (Wall Decor and More cartridge) both at 4".

March 2006 Best Friends layout

What could be better than twins and best friend girls?  I am scrapbooking away...I found this page that I had made years ago, just waiting for photos.  I just had to make a companion page: 

I was tickled to use some very old Making Memories rub-ons and alpha stickers and a scrap of ribbon from my black& white scrap ribbon jar.  Niiiiiice.  I have a huge container of rub-ons and my scrap ribbon jars are very full, but I love it when I use bits up :)

My girls are playing on my rocking horse in my parents' basement!  It has held up pretty well :)

SOS Don't Crimp My Style challenge

The SOS (Shopping Our Stash) challenge this week is to use your paper crimper.  This really appeals to me because I feel energized when I use old stash.  For this challenge I dusted off my crimper, my SU lattice-trellis die, and these pink primas to make this card.  

And I used some new stash too:  a sentiment from my SRM "Thank You" sentiments sticker page.

February 2006 Layout

A little progress...in my previous post (in which I finally finished scrapbooking my girls from 2005) I mentioned I have 3 goals:

My Scrapbooking Mission Goals:

1. Work towards catching up on my scrapbooking.
2. Use old stash up.
3. Shrink the pile of partially completed layouts and work them into my scrapbook album.

I had already completed a January 2006 page which is the last page in the previous scrapbook.  On to the rest of 2006!  In my basement stash of really old stuff I found a 12x12 album that came with some papers and sticker sheets.  This is my first page of the new album.  I am tickled pink that I have been able to scrapbook these two Valentines in their radically different red outfits.  (The colors in this page look better in real life.)

The striped scrapbook paper, alpha stickers, and tab stickers all came with the new album (from Michaels.)  I added the dark brown Bazzill card stock and white Thickers for my title.
