Back to Black challenge: City Crafter Challenge blog

(*second post today; scroll down for weekly SOS post*)

Kirsty Vittetoe has graciously asked me to be a guest designer this week at City Crafter Challenge blog (CCCB).  My jaw literally was on the floor when I received her invite.  I have admired Kirsty's work for nearly two years as well as ALL of the members of her CCCB design team.  Seriously, if I ever met Cheryl, Ros, Linda R., or Kirsty in real life I would likely act like a star struck teenager.  These ladies are some of my favorite paper crafting idols.  That pretty much sums up my elation at being a part of their team for the week of July 10, 2012 :)

The challenge this week is "Back to Black":  create a card or project with a silhouette; the image may be stamped, digital, or die cut, but must be black.

I created two cards for this challenge, and I stamped in black for both (I know, you are shocked that I didn't just use my Cricut, aren't you?)

For this sympathy card I stamped and embossed the daisies on Graphic 45 "Butterfly Kisses" from the Once Upon a Springtime collection.  Both stamps are by Stampin' Up!  I added hot rocks by Imaginisce under the sentiment and on top of the black velour daisy trim.

For my shoe card I stamped and embossed the shoe ("My Sentiments Exactly!" stamp) on black card stock.  I fussy cut it out and popped it up with foam tape.  I cut my nested circles using my Cricut "Accent Essentials" cartridge.  My papers are "Modern Homemaker" by October Afternoon that I purchased from Kirsty's Pixie Dust Paperie shop last Spring.

Please stop by City Crafter Challenge blog for more silhouette inspiration, link up your creation, or to just say "hi!"

Happy Tuesday!

It's funny. The blog post immediately before this one in GFC was a Lessology post and Kirsty was featured in it. Go figure. :) Great cards- the shoe is really cute and I REALLY like the teal shades with the b/w in the sympathy card- very elegant. Congrats on the GD request!

Well, I can definitely read your excitement in this post. So happy for you! I am scared of embossing powder, but I do love the look of that first card. It is super elegant. The shoe card is just total fun...really love that bow. Fun post today, Miss June.

I am truly in awe over these two creations, and I've come in here probably 7 times to ogle that shoe. I have no arches so can't wear heels of any type, so that just adds to the allure of them, and this thing is soo beautiful!
