Oh, Baby III

After 3 hours of agonizing, I finally made this set of 6 cards. I used DCWV Nana's Kids dps, MM charms/plaques, Bazzill bling cs. I also used my little jar of really small ribbons. The sentiments are all CI rub-ons.

Real Simple

Do you like that magazine "Real Simple"? I do. Nice articles and organizational tips (I love to organize!)

I'm still in search of mojo. Both designs use the scraps from an old card-making kit (see previous post). This first card I made two of using old stash:
Great Impressions card & envelope, MM rub-ons, and scrap cs.

For the second card I also used a GI card, Creative Imaginations rub-ons (the dots), and scrap cs.

Scrapping Extras

I am not feeling creative the past couple of days. I want to make something, but my brain has nothing. Why can't Kazan & Laura do sketches each day? LOL!

This morning I remembered an old Caardvarks challenge from last summer (?) to use stickers. I recalled that for that challenge I pulled out some old tired cs stickers that I loved when I bought them, but no longer was excited about, kwim? I made like 6 cards from those stickers, and they all sold at Greenberry's. (Customers don't necessarily know what the trendy scrapbook products are.)

So I thought I'd try that approach. I pulled out my "Summer" craft keeper. I saw that I had 6 leftover pieces from a card kit (the square martini glass and the flip flops are 2 of the 6). I matched the martini square to "A Day at the Beach" EKSuccess dp. I used these scallops I was going to use on another card some time ago. I used the SU! large tag punch, Bazzill and DCWV scraps, an AC rub-on, DCWV brad and card base. You can't see it in the pic, but I also used a Sakura glitter pen on the dp circles.
For the second card I used MM rub-ons, but then I accidentally got part of another rub-on stuck over my "v"because I was rushing. Has that ever happened to you? Anyway, to cover it up, I used some QK Icing rub-ons (daisys). The prima is SU!, the button is a Button-Up, and the yellow Bazzill went through my Cuttlebug. I wanted to add a little dark purple somewhere (to match the flip flops), but couldn't work it out.
So these cards aren't particularly special, but I am happy with the "summery" feel I was looking for.

Doubly Challenged & Out of My Box

Last night I saw Kazan's Sketch #3 on 2 Sketches 4 You. It's a great sketch, and I figured the card would come together quickly...NOT! But it is finished now. I'm still "Thinking Pink", thanks to caardvarks' current challenge.
A month or so ago I was at ACMoore looking for something to use my 50% coupon on. I tried to use it on the pink felt fusion (seen on this card), but it was on clearance for 50% off even though the signage indicated it was full price. I have been wanting to try the felt, but I must admit I haven't been crazy about it until I've seen some of my favorite blogs use it. So this was my first try.
I also would not normally purchase this particular dp, but it was given to me ~a year ago for attending a crop. I don't turn down free scrapbooking supplies :) So, yes, I cut into a sheet of 12x12 to make this card!
I have also admired Lauren's grunge flowers (okay, so I admire pretty much everything Lauren makes!) She actually posted a tutorial today on her blog ...all the GOOD blog names were taken... Isn't she awesome? Check it out then come back, okay?
Recipe for this card: American Crafts double-sided paper, black cs scraps, MM brads (hot pink), Bazzill brads (red), Queen & Co. felt fusion, and the sentiment is a Great Impressions stamp.

Charmed, I'm Sure

I actually created the blue card first, then went back later to do this feminine (pink) card. I used a CM corner rounder and the mini slot punch by SU! to create the rounded squares and tag. I used SU! dimensionals behind the rounded squares. The pink grossgrain is a scrap from my ribbon scrap jar.

I designed a card like these ~5 years ago, when I first saw & had to have these metal charms. I came across a package in my craft room, and figured I'd do it again today :)

Both cards are DCWV (base card) , MM birthday charms, and Bazzill cs scraps (white for the first card, brown for the second card). The pink card dps are KI Memories (from my KI scrap bag, of course!) and SEI scraps (which were in my "masculine" scrap bag, even though I have an SEI scrap bag too, but it is mostly SEI "Sporty".)

Daisy Crazy

I pulled out my 4th DCWV box, which is now a consolidation of the previous boxes. I have used this pale yellow a few times, but as you can see I have amassed a lot of them. My goal was to use a most of them today, but I used them all :) I found this daisy and coordinating green dp from a slab I purchased 4+ years ago from the Memories store (I think it is Me & My Big Ideas). I tried different sentiments and LOs. The script "love" is Denami Design. The "Friends are flowers that brighten are day" is PSX (and the brad is BBP and the prima is Bazzill). For the six cards across the bottom I added paper piercing using my SU! template. All those vertical sentiments are Endless Creations.

That left scraps :)
I made this card using white Bazzill cs, a Bazzill bigger brad, an SU! prima, Button Up buttons, and the sentiment ("With Love") by Stamp Francisco.

I had one 12" strip of dp left and one more yellow card. I dug out my Bazzill cs scrap bag (greens)...no go. Then I tried my Bazzill cs scrap bag (blues)...I like! I added the sentiment (TLC rub-on). I originally tried white scallops, thought of more paper piercing, then decided to add dots with my SU! white gel pen. Lastly I added two pearls from the SU! Pretties kit.
Ahhhhhh....
Then I threw only these little scraps away (sorry, Lauren! I should have made confetti from them :)

Think PINK!

I saw the current "Think PINK!" Challenge at Caardvarks yesterday, and knew I had to make some baby girl cards. Caardvarks is a big motivator for me. Their challenges often inspire me to make something I might not ordinarily make, and it helps me build up my card stash to sell at Greenberry's. As of yesterday, my card stash was at ZERO. I know the McLean store will be needing more this week. I plan to go there Tuesday, so ***hopefully*** I can be a card making fool this weekend.

Both of these cards are made from scraps :) The gingham and polka dot papers are Doodlebug and the pink stripe is Me & My Big Ideas. The card base is DCWV. I also used dimensionals. Yeah, I used my Prismacolor silver paint pen again to edge. Can you tell I love it? I usually buy the Pilot brand. My gold Pilot is running low, and my silver ran out a year ago, when I made a slew of anniversary cards for Greenberry's. I usually only use the silver at Christmas and for anniversaries, but the gold I tend to use a little more frequently. Michael's had the Prismacolor, and I used a 50% off coupon so it was ~$2. Back to the cards...the pink ribbon was in my scrap ribbon jar. Kathryn snatched the second card to look at and wrinkled the dps, so I moved the baby stroller lower. I had to come up with something to fill the top left corner for balance. I used a foam stamp "Congrats!" and SU! "Pretty in Pink" ink. I added a DCWV brad to the exclamation point. I came down to post this blog entry, but perused all my favorite blogs first. By coincidence, my colleague, Amy Sheffer, is having a " 1 brad & 1 button" challenge on her "Our Creative Corner" blog. The card must contain at least 1 brad and 1 button. I purchased a package of two pink baby stroller gift cards from Michael's last week. They were on the clearance aisle and I thought I would cut off the back and use as a main image for a baby girl card. The cards were 2.5"x2.5". I already used both envelopes for the 2.5"x2.5" cards I made for the chipboard clipboard teacher gifts (June 16th post).

I made these last night to slowly build up my stash for the coffee shops :) Look familiar?

A scrap of ribbon inspiration

I knew I had very little time to create yesterday. I sat at my table, pondering whether or not to make one or two extra anniversary cards (see previous post) to sell at Greenberry's. I looked up at my beautiful MM shelf and saw this lavendar polka dot scrap of ribbon in my scrap ribbon jar. Then I spun my recycled spice rack to look at my small primas. These (Got Flowers?) coordinated best. Then I went through my file of 12x12 slab papers and pulled these two sheets of dp. I hand drew the flower stems with an SU! marker. I outlined the white cs with my Prismacolor silver paint pen to tie in with the silver brads. I think I'll make a set of six to max out the dp; I'll just need to find a different ribbon, since this scrap was just long enough to make this little bow.

Anniversary card for DH

Sunday is our 17th wedding anniversary. Time flies! I forgot all about making a card. The end of the school year is always hectic, but this really snuck up on me. Yesterday I ran so many errands...I can't believe all I got accomplished (I was motivated because it was the last day of school...it's much harder to run errands with my munchkins.) I don't know how much I will make or how often I will be able to blog this summer, but I hope you won't delete me from your list of blogs you peruse :)
I sat in my craft room last night and tried to remind myself NOT to think (I tend to over think and accomplish nothing.) I used Laura's Sketch 2 from the blog "2 Sketches 4 You". This card involves NO STAMPING!
Linen cs & layers: Simply Stamped Papers
Scrap of anniversary paper: Masterpiece Studio
be mine FOREVER: MM woven label
black gross grain: Michael's
Happy Anniversary: Class-A-Peels/ Stampendous
I also used a Prismacolor paint pen (silver) to edge the cs layers for added dimension.

Teacher Gifts/ Saved by Sue/ Tap Recital 2008

Once again, Sue (http://www.welovetostamp.com/) has saved me. I took her "Chipboard Clipboard" class a while ago, and we made these two clipboards. Yesterday I made two coordinating gift cards to match each clipboard (yes, out of scraps!)

I also attached a 4x6 of Julia and a 4x6 of Kathryn to the blue clipboard for Mary. Mary taught Kathryn in pre-school last year, then moved up to Kindergarten and taught Julia this year. Mary is awesome, and we feel so fortunate that both girls have such a solid foundation thanks to her excellent teaching skills and her high expectations. The groovy guava clipboard and note pad is for my favorite secretary at Belmont Station Elementary (BeSt). Joanne is leaving "the Station" for a school much closer to her home. She will be at Round Hill elementary (where my girls attended pre-school at age 2). I am happy for her, because Round Hill is also a wonderful school.

I made a card VERY similar to this at Sue's stamp camp last Thursday. She had us use an SU! stamp sentiment, of course. I borrowed this "happy summer" from friend Mary, but I don't know the manufacturer (not SU!). I decided this was the card for all the teachers, teacher assistants, and therapists. I made each one 4 cards and paired with 4 envelopes and put each set in an acrylic box.

Whew! Can you believe I got all these done this weekend? I can't. But I delivered them all this morning at BeSt.

Doug forgot the flash (it's a good thing...all that make up makes me look like a hussie...not that there's anything wrong with that...) I don't usually wear any make up. Who has time with cards and scrapbook pages to make?
Anyway, we all wore our hair '80s Madonna style. We all wore izod shirts with the collars up, and rolled our jeans up 80s style! Our routine was a medley our dance teacher mixed. We started with Culture Club (remember Boy George????) "Karma Chameleon", then went into Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night" (yes, we put on Blues Brothers style glasses at that point...we don't take ourselves too seriously. We are there to have fun and make the audience laugh.) and lastly merged into Quiet Riot "Cum On Feel the Noize." We had a great time and we always get the biggest applause from the audience. I admit I LOVE the 80s (I was in high school and college in the 80s). I occasionally listen to the 80s music station on t.v. I always wanted to take tap again (I took it when I was 5 years old, then switched to ballet for the next 7 1/2 years. ~2 years later I was dancing on my high school drill team during my sophomore, junior, and senior years, and that was the last time I danced.) I talked about wanting to take tap, but really wanted to join with a friend. One day Doug said, "Just do it. You've been wanting to do it for as long as I've known you. Just do it." So at the very young age of 37, I took adult tap. This was my 4th year and my 4th recital. I have definitely improved, but not so ready for prime time. LOL! It is LOTS of fun. Some ladies in my class have tap danced since they were children, and I love to watch them. Others are starting out new, like I did. So for the past two years I am actually intermediate/advanced. Go me! Most of the studio are children from 6-18 years old. One girl commented, "Oh, you are doing oldies! We had 80s day at school." Ugh. When did the 80s become oldies????

SU! Simple Sentiments card making kit

This is one of the two card designs in the SU kit. It doesn't inspire me (sorry, SU!) I'm not sure why...I mean, I like the colors, LOVE the ribbon, it has glitter, and flowers. SO what's not to like? I pulled enough pieces out of the kit to make 3 similar cards, still using (almost) all SU! products and my Cuttlebug embossing plates :)

I used SU! felt flowers and an SU! gem brad for the main image, and used a "happy birthday" from the SU! Stem Sayings stamp set on two of them. (Click on pic for a better view.) The left-most card I used the matching green ink, but then switched to Versamark on the last two.I wasn't going to add the glitter (I was in a hurry and just wanted to get them done, invoiced, and take to the store immediately.)

But I somehow managed to dog ear the top right corner of the main image. So I pulled out my gems to cover it up, so I had to pull out the glue pen and glitter to add some bling to the base card.

I LOVE Basic Grey!!!

Yesterday I was able to attend Sue's (Inky Images) monthly stamp camp where she provides all the materials (even adhesive!) to make 2 projects. Yesterday I went with Macarena and Sue had us make two adorable cards using SU! Tart-n-Tangy. I decided to go with her idea for end- of-the-year gifts for the teachers. Talk about being under pressure...the kindergarten ice cream social is Monday, and I need to bring ice cream, so I want to have all the teacher, teacher assistant, and speech therapist and occupational therapists gifts made (11 gifts total; and my favorite secretary is leaving too, so I want to include her as well). I always think I am going to get these done in advance, but I end up completing the night before.
All of these ladies are wonderful and I really can't thank them enough. Anyway, I don't even have DH's gift for Father's Day! And my tap dance rehersal is tomorrow and the recital is Sunday. ACK! I always get nervous...and I need to practice our routine. Fortunately the greeting cards are selling a little slow this month, right? I've checked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and still 12 cards in Leesburg, 31 cards in McLean.
Well, when I returned from Sue's house, Erin (Greenberry's district manager) left a message for me to call. I called her back (she was @ Leesburg store today) and she said she needed birthday cards; a regular customer, John, who occasionally buys my cards but also enjoys just looking at them, was in today looking for a birthday card. I said, “there are two there; both feminine. Does he want a masculine card?” She said,” There are only four cards here; all Father’s Day.” ACK !ACK! ACK! So guess what I did last night...
I started with my Basic Grey "Oh, Baby Boy" dps. One of the girls who works at Greenberry's, Ashley, asked me to make a non-traditional card for her to give her dad for father's day. Ashley is very sweet, but NOT a girly-girl. She told me her dad is a rocket scientist. She wanted it to say "thinking of you" and nothing mushy. In the past the cards Ashley has purchased were all using BG papers, so I thought I'd start here. Once the card was designed and made ("Thinking of you" is a TLC rub-on) I went ahead and made the "happy birthday" with an SU! stem saying stamp.
I dropped these off at Greenberry's this morning, along with more of Tracy's graduation cards (http://smallsmackerels.blogspot.com/2008/06/graduation-cards.html) and father's day cards that Tracy and I both have made. When I got there at 7:45am, there were only 2 of my father's day cards left. Wendy said some lady (not a regular customer) came in and just bought up a whole bunch of cards yesterday :)
So now I am going to make a few more birthday cards (I think I'll use a SU! Simply Sent kit) to make some more feminine birthday cards to take to the Leesburg store. Then they should be set so I can panic over my recital, DH's gift, and the teacher gifts!
Next week, when the dust from this weekend settles, I hope to send out the blog candy from my blogoversary, write out my thank you cards from the girls' birthday, and hopefully make more cards so I don't get behind the eight ball again :)

What? No Cuttlebug? & The Frugal Scrapper

A couple of weeks ago ACMoore had all paper for 50% off. I went in search of more paisley to use my Cuttlebug Paisley embossing folder. I only bought one sheet of this Stacy Claire Boyd paper (we all know 1 sheet can make a lot of cards!) It was hard to do. In the past if I saw paper I liked I always bought at least 2 sheets, or the whole stack. LOL! (No, I'm not kidding. That was B.G. "Before Girls"aka Julia & Kathryn).
I made my list of who I owe thank you notes to for the girls' birthday presents. I needed 16! My family urges me to use store bought. Is that hard for any of you? I mean, won't they be insulted if I did not take time to make a card? Especially when it is my "job" (making and selling cards at Greenberry's)???
When I taught classes at AFSC, one of my most loyal customers, Macarena (Hi, Mac!), said I should write a book with all my tips that I gave in class and title the book The Frugal Scrapper. Well, yesterday I certainly earned that title. My math brain thought 16 cards? Cut Stacy Claire Boyd paper into 3x3 squares = 16! Okay, that is a little small for an A2. So I went to Michael's and bought their packs of cards (50% off this week!) that are not quite A2. They are 4 x5 1/2. That will work. So I used Bazzill blue bling and a Bazzill green for layers. I still thought I would use the Cuttlebug, but wasn't sure how. Then I recalled a QK Revolution die I have with flowers. Aha! The card evolved this way. The stamp is Hero Arts and the ink is SU! Old Olive. The leaf (stem) punch is EKSuccess and the corner rounder is CM.
Now to write out these cards, address, and send...

Last 8x8 for FIL for now...

Here are some more candid pics of J&K from last July. Julia was "on" that day. Fortunately we had our camera!
I am VERY happy with this LO. I have basically exhausted that 8x8 DCWV pad...I have one full sheet of large polka dot paper and the rest are varied colors of "Happy Birthday". I went through EVERY piece of 12x12 I own, and these dps from Michael's (pp and lavender mat) were the best fit. I cut it down to 8x8 (what, more scraps?) The scalloped paper is Bazzill...I ordered from Joanns.com and got free shipping AND it was on sale :) The primas are MM, the silver and purple brads are MM and DCWV, respectively. Oval punches by SU!. One of my better LOs, don't you think? Click on the pic to see more detail...their pink tees read "Patience Tester"!)

More 8x8 of June & July 2007

I had just 3 more pictures from last year's b-day party and then these two candids of J&K playing dress-up in late June. I created the 2 page LO "Celebrate In Style" combining the two. The alphas are MM, the balloons and party hat are DCWV cs stickers, and the acetate is K& Co. Julia LOVES her sunglasses (see bottom left).

These next two pages are from July 2007. I could not figure a way to merge a 2 page LO, so "Artists at work" (all DCWV) is the last page of my FIL's 3rd album (21 pages total). The 4th of July page is the first page of album #4 (blue papers Me & My Big Ideas and the die cut heart flag is My Mind's Eye).

Nothing really special about these LOs except for those two girls pictured :)

We celebrated the girls' birthday at My Gym both last year (pictured here) and this year. You can see Kathryn in the top left, both girls playing together (bottom left), Julia on the floor and at the top of the rock wall (middle pics) and then Kathryn, Carly (friend), and Julia on the rock wall together (right pics). All products are DCWV, except the pink floss (scrap from a cross-stitch project most likely). How perfect that the DCWV cake cs sticker had 5 candles for this 5th birthday party! I can't believe my babies are 6 years old :)

Eye Candy!!! The winners are...

Let's review...to celebrate my one year blogoversary, I came up with the following contest:

Julia contest: Create a gatefold card.
Kathryn contest: Create a unique card using some of patterned paper scrap from a previous card.

These first 3 cards are all created by Yvette. I think I've found a kindred card maker...simply elegant and uses scraps. I love the clean lines of her cards! Check out her other creations here: creatables by Yvette.

This happy thank you is from Kristie Morrison. Krisitie's card meets both challenge requirements! She used scraps AND created a gatefold card. Isn't she clever?! I am so happy to "meet" both Yvette and Kristie via this contest. They are my newest blog friends :)

If you check my blog regularly, you know I have mentioned Lauren of ...all the GOOD blog names were taken... I am amazed by her talent. I am in love with these adorable birds. IMO, you can not have too many flowers or scallops. We started blogging around the same time. I found her blog nearly a year ago...either late June or July. When I don't have time to check (like this weekend) all my favorite blogs, I will at least check to see if Lauren has posted that day :)

And the final entry is by my friend and fellow card-selling partner, Amy of Pickled Paper Designs. Her designs and layering are phenomenal. Like I even have to say that...I mean, look at this baby card!
I know the suspense is killing you (drum roll, please....) but before I announce I have to say THANK YOU ladies, for participating. This is a busy time of year with school ending, summer beginning and I am honored that each of you took the time to enter.
The winner of the Kathryn contest (using scraps) is Yvette !!!
The winner of the Julia contest (gatefold) is lauren!!!
Please e-mail me your addresses! Kristie, that includes you. I would like to send you a little something for participating in the contest.

Blog Candy Contest & A Simple LO of J&K in 2007

****REMINDER*** Don't forget to enter for my blog candy by midnight TONIGHT, June 7th. There will be two winners, one for each challenge. Click here: http://simplyelegantpapercrafts.blogspot.com/2008/05/blog-candy-contest.html
This LO came together very quickly...I just cut the 8x8 DCWV dp into 4x4 squares, and mounted on the 2 sheets of 8x8 DCWV cs. I cropped the pics, layered on white cs and used some alphabet stickers (Me & My Big Ideas, I think!)

8x8 album for FIL

I originally started an 8x8 album with pics of the girls from birth to give as a gift for my FIL's (aka Granddaddy) birthday, which is May 1st. I made a complete 20 page album the first year (you know it tapers off after that!) The next year I purchased another album and made 12 LOs; I scrapped the best pics from each month. The next year I created more pages the same way and started on the 3rd album. Then life got in the way, and May 1st, 2007 I had no pages made for him. (I had to get a store bought gift!) So last Christmas I had some pages for him completed through December 2006. Well, May 1st, 2008 I gave him the SU! school album (http://simplyelegantpapercrafts.blogspot.com/2008/05/bitty-board-books.html) because I still had not made pages. I knew he would be here visiting from NC this weekend (he never misses the girls' birthday), so this past week I got busy. The pages I made from Jan-May 2007 were okay, but this was one of my favorite LOs I made for June 2007. BTW, I completed album #3 with all the new LOs (21 total). I finished scrapping my favorite pics of the girls through July 2007 for now.
I gotta get back to making cards for the coffee shop :)

So VERY Scrappy Dad Cards & Blog Candy

****REMINDER*** Don't forget to enter for my blog candy by midnight, June 7th. There will be two winners, one for each challenge. Click here:http://simplyelegantpapercrafts.blogspot.com/2008/05/blog-candy-contest.html

Yep. All scraps. Even the ribbons and square brads are scraps from classes taught at Memories from 2-3 years ago. "DAD" is computer-generated and "Happy Father's Day" is a Hero Arts stamp. The base cards are both DCWV. The little colored square adhesive tiles were given to me by my friend Dora. Hi, Dora! She gave me a little strip of 7 tiles a while ago; so now I have 2 left. I took these over to Greenberry's to sell this morning. The cards are a little boring to me, but the girls at the store thought they were cute. We'll see if they sell.

I have another idea floating around in my head for Father's Day cards...I want to use the Cuttlebug embossing plate "Diamonds in the Rough". I can't quite "see" it in my head yet. I'm trying to channel my fellow card-selling business partner, Amy. Her cards are amazing. Go check her out: http://pickledpaperdesigns.blogspot.com/

Happy Thursday!

What?! No Scraps?? & The Picture in My Head

****REMINDER*** Don't forget to enter for my blog candy by midnight, June 7th. There will be two winners, one for each challenge. Click here:

So I'm not getting any mojo looking at those masculine scraps, so I cleaned them up and put them back in the scrap bag. On my table I still had this one pink/green Bazzill flower (QK Revolution die) I had leftover from a set of Birthday cards I made last month. I had run out of the dp and could only make 5 birthday cards, but I had 6 flowers. I looked through all my 12x12 dps and pulled out this stripe dp (Creative Imaginations). I had a large scrap piece (okay, so mostly no scraps) of pink Bazzill in my pink/red Bazzill scrap bag and created the base card. Then I cut the stripe CI dp. I still have pangs of guilt when I cut a sheet of 12x12 dp...especially if it one I really like. It seemed a little dull, so I painted the edges of the dp and flower with white acrylic paint. I wrapped white grossgrain around, then used a CI "thanks." rub-on. Even though I knew in my head this would be a simply designed card (for a teacher...the end of the school year is almost upon us), this card looks better IRL than it did in my head. I love when that happens. I really like this card.
Then I decided to try to run the DCWV base card (front only) through the Cuttlebug embossing folder. I think if I do this again I will only run it through the top half of the card, because the e.f. is a little smaller that an A2 card. I also have an unopened pack of large Bazzill chip flowers. I pulled one out and put an SU! cs sticker in the middle. Still boring. Then I got out an SU! circle stamp and marker and stamped on a scrap of white Bazzill (okay, so maybe it is impossible for me to make a card with absolutely no scrap!) I glued the circle sentiment to a metal rimmed tag (Staples) and popped up on dimensionals. Hmmm...still needed something. I decided to paper pierce the Bazzill chip flower and use a tiny silver brad to go with the metal rimmed tag. Better, but this card looked better in my head than IRL.

I Threw This Away & Blog Candy

First, don't forget to enter for my blog candy by midnight, June 7th. There will be two winners, one for each challenge. Click here:

I have another entry. Wahoo! Thank you, Kristie! To see her card, click here:

Now, to dispell the rumors that I never throw anything away, I did throw these little pieces of dp away. But first I cut 1/2"x4" strips (I could only eke out 5). I pulled out this grey cs scrap and a red-orange cs scrap again from my scrap bag...how odd is that? a color I almost never use and I keep finding it as the best match for my recent scrappy cards... I also used another vellum quote from the "Baby" Quote Stack. The blue card base is DCWV. The dp scraps and card base are the same as this card: http://simplyelegantpapercrafts.blogspot.com/2008/05/do-you-believe-in-signs-i-do.html
I am taking this card to the post office this morning for our cousin (first cousin, once removed), Michael. He is graduating high school. I think it is safe to post...I doubt that Michael reads my blog :)

Blog Candy & Super Scrappy Super Dad Card

First, don't forget to enter for my blog candy by midnight, June 7th. There will be two winners, one for each challenge. Click here: http://simplyelegantpapercrafts.blogspot.com/2008/05/blog-candy-contest.html. I have one entry so far, thank you Yvette! I made this card from these scrap scraps (yes, I meant to type that). I taught a Father's Day card class using these ds dps at Memories two or three years ago. Last year I used the scraps to make several Father's Day cards (they are on my blog here: http://simplyelegantpapercrafts.blogspot.com/2007/06/basket-of-cards-and-scraps.html). This week I made this card from those scraps. And yes, I still have some scraps left, but they are getting small :) I even found this red-orange cs in my scrap cs bag. The vellum quote is from "Baby" Quote Stacks. The "screws" are MM. I have only used a few of those quote stacks and I have never used these "screw" eyelets (or are they snaps?) that I purchased when they were new. The base card is from my Magenta cards & envelopes. It feels good to create something out of old stash.

Caardvarks Tag Challenge & BLOG CANDY!

Caardvarks tag challenge is to create a tag representing one month of the year. You can enter as many months as you like, but since autumn is my favorite season, I am entering this one. I would like to use this tag when I scrapbook the kindergarten field trip we went on last fall. I hand cut the shapes to create the pumpkins and chalked for dimension. I used punches for the leaves. I used dimensionals for extra depth.
As for BLOG CANDY, you still have almost 1 week left to enter. There will be two winners, one for each challenge. Click here: http://simplyelegantpapercrafts.blogspot.com/2008/05/blog-candy-contest.html. I have one entry so far, thank you Yvette!
